Hotel Destinations Questions
What is the best way to get a hotel from an airport without using a rental car? My wife and I are planning a trip to Orlando. We want to visit all Disney Parks and Seaworld. I found a Hotel that gives free shuttles to all those destinations, but the Hotel is like 20 miles away from the airport. I don't want to pay for a rental car for a week and half just to use to get-to-and-from the airport and Hotel.
Is there a website where I can search vacation destinations based on my dates? It seems that all the travel websites work in this fashion: Choose your product (i.e. flight, flight & hotel, hotel only); Choose your dates; Choose your departure city; Choose your DESITNATION....they then show you all the flight and hotel options for that one destination. Are there any sites out there that let you type in the dates you are looking to take a vacation?...then they offer suggestions and pricing on various destinations throughout the us/world? I have done lots of travel and am not really "picky" about a certain destination, rather would like to explore various options without having to type in a different destination every time I do a search. Thanks in advance for your answers!

Any good family hotels/destinations for kids (age 3 and 5)? Looking to book a weeks family holiday next summer. We have got two kids who'll be 3 and 5 next year and looking for some nice, spacious accommodation either in the UK or somewhere not too hot. Can anyone recommend any good hotels/apartment/property with plenty for the kids to do and places for family visits. Looking for good quality accommodation preferably.
Anyone have a hotel recommendation for a Florida Destination Wedding? We are planning a destination wedding in FL and have found a lot of nice resorts online. However, many charge $400+ per night for a room and I don't feel comfortable asking family & friends to pay that much. Has anyone had a FL destination wedding with reasonable room rates that you can recommend?
Can you book an entire small hotel for a destination wedding? I heard one hotel in Mexico rented out 15 of its rooms for a wedding party and charged a $3500 rate per day. If you could do that, it would be more incentive for people to come for a quick getaway and still keep costs below that of a traditional, stay-at-home, reception hall wedding.
If you miss your connection for your flight do you wait in the airport or go to a hotel? I have missed my flight connection due to delays, countless times and always found a way to get a hotel if it was the last flight of the day to my final destination, but so many people I know have to wait all night at the airport. It seems like a terrible place to sit and wait all night but they do. How about you, have you ever had to spend the night in the airport and did you sleep?
Puerto Rico: One hotel and travel to all other locations? How possible is it to stay at one hotel in Puerto Rico and do day trips in the northern part of Puerto Rico? I would be traveling all the way to the northwest corner for whale watching, going slightly southeast cave exploring and all the way to the east coast for the beach and then slightly inland for the rain forest. I'd only be in the north for my trip. I was thinking of staying at in the North eastern area such as the Rio Mar Beach Resort. Could I stay in one hotel and travel to the rest of the areas during the day? And could I get by on some sort of transportation other than renting a car? For example, do tourist agencies from hotels provide transportation to tourist destinations?
How do I arrange / coordinate my vacation with 10 different destinations in multiple countries? Origin: Honolulu, Hawaii Destinations: (In no particular order) Florida (Disney World), New York (Empire State Bldg), Egypt (Pyramids), Thailand (Bangkok), Philippines (Manila), Taiwan (Taichung / Taipei), Hong Kong, Beijing, South Korea, and Japan (Hokkaido only). Then of course back to Honolulu, Hawaii. Is the only option is to go thru a travel agent? Approx how much would this cost (Airfare only or a combination of Air & Hotel)? This will probably be my last vacation... Appreciate your help. Experiences, advice, & concerns are welcomed. Thank you in advance.
Travelling to Chicago...Need Some Advice About How To Get to My Hotel? I am flying to Midway Airport next week and arriving at 11pm, but I was wondering what was one of the safest and affordable ways to get to my hotel downtown? I don't want to take the El with all of my luggage...how much would it be to take a taxi? Or, if that's too expensive, what's another affordable AND reliable way to get to my destination? And I need suggestions on specific companies for the latter as well! Thanks so much!
What are the nicest vacation destinations in the Caribbean? Next spring I plan to go on vacation to the Caribbean, and I was wondering where to go? I do not like secluded places, I like to see nice hotels, city life (if the case) and lots of people around me. I enjoy lively spaces, not isolation. Any ideas?
When to expect better travel rates during recession? Supposedly travel rates are going to go down as airlines, hotels, destinations, etc. struggle to get our money during an economic downturn. Any idea when to expect to see sales and adverts with lower rates? I've saved my money, am safe in my job and would like to book a trip to Disney for my son and I. How long do you think I need to wait it out for better pricing...and especially versus higher fuel costs for flights? I'm an American...in NY.
What is the average costs to visit these destinations? Venice Great wall of China Korea United Kingdom (Great Britain, probably around or in London, and Ireland) Japan Even if you just know one or two. What I mean by "Average costs" is the average amount of money it takes to get there and back, hotels, food, attractions, etc. etc. thanks
Where is the best place to go on holiday abroad with a 12 month old baby? We are from the UK and are looking for a holiday. We had already booked a cruise to Egypt which we are now going to cancel as we think it will be too much for the baby as we wouldnt be able to do any of the desert trip with him because of the heat etc.. We are looking to go away at the beginning of November. I am not sure of the best places to go in this month as we still want good weather. Can anyone please reccomend any good destinations/hotels please? We would prefer all inclusive and a really nice hotel.

Poll and survey: What would you like to see in a travel website? Thanks to everyone for participating. Rate from 1-10 and then comment the different things you would use on a travel website (1 NEVER use, 10 use all the time) Example: Flight calculator (how many miles you fly) 7 - I am part of a platinum program so I often have to go on a mile run to keep my membership and fulfill my quota. So this is an option I would use occasionally. Flight services 1)Booking 2)Hotel Reservation 3)Car rental 4)Flight information 5)Information on Flyer programs and miles 6)Airport information (parking, customs, maps and access) Destination services 1)Destination Hotel info 2)Destination Photos 3)Destination Maps 4)Destination Shopping 5)Destination Tourist traps Community 1)meet people at your destination 2)Exchange homes or sleep at locals house 3)Travel dating 4)Exchange travel tips 5)Exchange photos, stories Other, Please describe what original ideas you would like to see on a travel website. Destination Wedding Hotel Etiquette...? I just have a few questions as to what we are responsible for paying for with a destination wedding. Our wedding is going to be in Mobile, AL. which is a central point for our two families who are split up all around the country. Are we responsible for hotel costs? Travel costs? If anyone can give some advice on this I'd much appreciate it. Please no rude answers, I just would like to know the proper etiquette on the subject... We are fully ready to pay for hotel costs, etc.. Thanks...
Traveling destination & hotel suggestions? I want to take my mom on a surprise trip early January as her late Christmas gift. I took her to Hawai'i last year and we stayed at the Turtle Bay which was great (http://www.turtlebayresort.com/). I'm looking for a similar peaceful, clean beach resort environment in another country. I want it to be somewhat outside of the city and the beach somewhat secluded, not in the middle of all the tourist business. I just want to have a peace of mind and not stress about unpleasant surprises. My budget is around $250 a night. Europe and Middle East are not options. My mom lives in Europe and I grew up there...and we've been to Spain before--I was thinking maybe South/Latin America or Africa somewhere? Steve: Tx for all the suggestions, I'll look them up. Ms Sophie: I looked up the hotel, the cheapest room is $550 a night! I love my mom and all but damn, I'm a single woman with a mortgage payment too, have some mercy! LOL

Destination wedding hotel room welcome baskets? I'm having a destination wedding (not tropical or anything, just out of state), and I'm stuck on what to put in the guests' welcome baskets for their hotel room. I don't really have a wedding theme, and I'm on a tight budget. So far, I'm putting little bottles of water that the town is somewhat known for, as well as maps of the state park and the town, marking some of my personal favorites for boutiques and such. I'd like to put one other small thing in there if possible. Our wedding favors will be chocolates, so I don't want to do that. If you were arriving from out of town for a wedding, what would you like to see as a welcome gift in your hotel room. Guests will only be staying the weekend. Thanks!
Which hotel chain should we stay loyal to? If we joined a rewards program and stuck to a hotel chain to be loyal with, which should it be? One with many destinations, and the rooms and facilities at most should be nice. Starwood is probably our first choice, because Westins, Sheratons, St. Regis, and W are nice. Marriott is updating with plush bedding and high-tech rooms, and they are partners with Ritz Carlton. Hiltons are nice. And Hyatt is also comfy. As far as comfort (how plush the rooms and beds are), facilities, and destinations, which one or two (for backup) would you choose?
